Deacon's Horn
By Cary Bybee

Millions of people have vanished overnight! The world is in chaos. Could it have been an alien abduction? Some believe that God has dealt His justice upon the souls of the wicked. But others know the discomforting truth: "The rapture of the Lord is upon us. The righteous have been called into heaven. We have been left behind." Believers know that it is up to them to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to a world in turmoil.

Jasmine and Elisha survive a sudden sandstorm. An angel of the Lord instructs them to go to Bethlehem where they become very powerful witnesses for Christ. Escaping a raging fire brought Stan and Ruby Evans to God. Now they are determined to proclaim the truth about Jesus to anyone who will listen. Calvin Fraser was imprisoned when his cellmate vanished before his very eyes. Calvin begins reading the Bible. Before long, he begins preaching the Word to the other inmates. Cory Parker is converted. These two will lead a group of believers to safety in the wilderness.

Carlo Ventini has been anointed by Satan as the Anitichrist.

God has reveled this truth to Joseph Bastoni. He writes a newsletter from the Vatican to Catholic churches worldwide. Joseph begins to include coded messages warning about Carlo. When the code is revealed, Joseph becomes the target of great evil. He flees to Jerusalem.

Chemicals are released into the environment. Plants are destroyed. All nations are threatened by plague. The Antichrist blames Christians for these crimes against humanity. Christianity is outlawed. Microchips are implanted into the skin of everyone subject to his dominion. It is the Mark of the Beast. Without it you can neither buy nor sell. With it you are damned for all eternity.

This book is well-written and fast-paced, peopled with characters from the previous book in this trilogy, The Last Gentile. It is filled with a sense of urgency. This book reminded me that time truly is running out and that the Gospel must be spread. I look forward to The Final Witness, the third book in this series.
