Double Shot
By Diane Mott Davidson

Caterer Goldy Schultz is back and she is finally free of her ex-husband. Unfortunately, she's also the prime suspect in his murder. Recently released from jail, John Richard Korman -not-so-affectionately know as "The Jerk" by his two ex-wives - is just as hateful as ever. At one of Goldy's catering jobs, he berates her in front of a room full of guests. He demands that she bring their son, Arch, to his house promptly at 4 o'clock that afternoon. Just to pacify him, Goldy quickly agrees. Although they are on time, John Richard doesn't answer the front door. Goldy walks around to the back. She finds the garage door halfway open and she squeezes underneath. She finds John Richard's body. He's been shot to death.

The police arrive and find Goldy's missing handgun near the body. They test her hands for gunshot residue. An unfortunate incident had happened earlier in the day involving that gun. The test is going to come back positive.

If she doesn't want the Jerk to continue to ruin her life, even from beyond the grave, Goldy must find the real killer before the cops return to arrest her.

This an enjoyable continuation of the Goldy Bear series. Books in the series include recipes for various treats. I like the author's new plan of putting all of the recipes together in the back of the book. This allows readers, like myself, to enjoy the mystery without having the flow broken by recipes, which they may never use. The mystery is, as expected, interesting and the food scrumptious. This is a great book.
