Metro Girl
By Janet Evanovich

Janet Evanovich is back but this time Stephanie Plum is nowhere to be seen. Evanovich's character, Alexandra "Barney" Barnaby, is a fun, crazy, and daring new character that lingers long after I have finished the book. "Metro Girl"begins with Alex at home, sleeping peacefully when her brother calls to tell her that he needs to disappear for a while and the phone call ends with a woman screaming in the background. Although she hates to fly, Alex jumps on a plane and heads to Miami to get her brother out of whatever jam he has gotten himself into this time. Unfortunately, it seems Bill's problems are too big even for Alex and she finds herself interlocked with a sexy NASCAR racer, Sam Hooker, who is pissed because Bill stole his boat as the getaway plan. Next thing Alex knows, she is being chased by too many to count, all of whom want her talking about info she doesn't have or dead. As the end comes closer and closer, Alex is trying to stay alive and out of Hooker's tempting bed.

"Metro Girl"is, simply put, an excellent book. The action is nonstop and hilarious and Alex is a character that I want to stick around. At first, the voice sounded close to Stephanie Plum but as I kept reading, Alex's unique voice came out. However, Alex is almost as hard on cars as Stephanie is! I loved all of the characters in the book, especially Jude, Alex's gay friend, who defies all clichés. I really hope that this will turn into a series because I love Alex, even more than Stephanie Plum. I am highly anticipating the next book by Evanovich.
