Mr. Paradise
By Elmore Leonard

Wealthy eighty-four year old retired lawyer, Tony Paradiso ("Mr. Paradise") loves to watch videos of old Michigan football games, to the accompaniment of a gorgeous topless cheerleader named Chloe Robinette. Chloe is a former call girl on a $5,000 per month retainer to entertain Mr. Paradise. When she asks her roommate, the Victoria's Secret model, Kelly, to accompany her, the girls are caught in the middle of a contract hit on Tony.

Tony's right hand man, Montez Taylor, wants whatever the old man was leaving to Chloe, and Kelly looks just right to switch identities with Chloe. Rather than get herself into trouble, Kelly goes along with Montez's scheme, but then there's detective Frank Delsa and he really piques Kelly's interest.

Two corpses, two angry hit men, a safe deposit box full of loot, and everybody on a different fast-track to disaster. The complicated plot is peopled with Leonard's trademark quirky characters, snappy dialogue and interesting personal agendas. The bad guys are none too bright, but neither are the good guys, and the ensuing romp is guaranteed to entertain you far into the night as the two factions match their dubious wits in a race for the big payoff. Leonard fans won't be disappointed with this latest novel from the old master.
