What Others Know
Detective
Harry Bronson series
By L.C.Hayden
Seven
years ago Dan Springer was a reporter working on a drug story and
was warned to drop the story or face the consequences. When he persisted,
his wife was killed and his infant daughter was kidnapped.
Today
Dan is a reporter on a Las Vegas newspaper. He rescues the son of
a local mob boss who had been kidnapped by a rival mob boss. As
a reward the boss promises to help Dan with information about Dan's
long lost daughter. Dan has never given up the search for her.
At
the same time Debbie, the woman he loves, has been receiving telephone
calls with no one on the line and is being stalked.
A
Dallas detective, Harry Bronson, vacationing in Las Vegas, becomes
interested in the two incidents and offers his unofficial assistance.
With Bronson's help and that of Debbie, Dan hopes to unravel the
clues that lead to finding his daughter. Their search leads to the
past and lies and deceptions and murders before they can find the
truth.
This
is a story of one man's search which becomes an all-consuming way
of life for him. The plot is suspenseful, full of twists and turns
with an unexpected conclusion. The relationship between Debbie and
Dan is treated with sensitivity. Bronson, the detective, with his
obsession for coffee, is a likeable character we would like to see
more of.
The
Las Vegas scene with its glitz on the surface and its corruption
underneath is well portrayed.
