The Zero Factor
By John Hoffert
John Hoffert
makes his writing debut with a very exciting first novel that he
promises will be number one of a series, with three books finished
and a fourth in the beginning stages. Hoffert has certainly found
his calling. The complicated plot and compelling characters keep
you reading through the night.
The youthful Governor of Maryland, John
K. Stratton, is ready to start his campaign for President of the
United States only to have his personal life fall apart. John is
already a troubled man. He is lonely and fighting the psychological
problems of his father's unexplained disappearance years earlier
and his mother's sudden death. He is still suffering with the unrequited
love of his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Francis. She, too,
is still in love with the elusive John Stratton, and when they have
a chance encounter, it sets their worlds spinning.
A street gang is becoming bolder, and a
young undercover cop turns up dead with the trademark three bullets
to the head...then John's estranged younger brother is shot in the
street and is in critical condition. The Presidential campaign is
put on hold.
When several members of the street gang, and a
lot of innocent people are killed in a huge ambush, and then Kim
is kidnapped, the action really gets fast and furious.
John Hoffert's characters are people you really
care about, and the plot keeps you guessing right up to the explosive
climax. We'll definitely see more of this exciting new writer. I'm
going to be very impatient, waiting for the next book.
