The
line between the good guys and the bad guys is successfully blurred
by the end and it made me wonder how much bad karma one girl standing
in a puddle of blood can bear. Although there are several graphically
resolved ethical issues in this book, I liked it and have recommended
it to friends.
I
was surprised to find out that Abbey is a Capricorn; I expected
her to be a Gemini based on the up-and-down, back-and-forth first
person narration. For the first few chapters it was like trying
to catch a butterfly with flippers on my feet, but after the wedding
scene I found the rhythm and the story unfolded regular and true
to the end.
You
can tell that the author has intimate knowledge of her subject instead
of just being book-smart because there is no awkwardness or stilted
phrases; explanations concerning psychic ability and tools are straightforward
and clear. You do not have to be an expert or a believer in psychic
abilities to thoroughly enjoy the time you spend reading Better
Read Than Dead.
