Bloodless Shadow

by Victoria Blake

Judo world champion Samantha Falconer becomes a London private investigator when she is physically no longer able to compete. She returns to Oxford to look into the disappearance of the wife of John O'Connor, a psychiatrist. She is shocked to receive a letter from a man claiming to be her father warning her that her life is in danger. She had believed her father, an undercover agent, to be dead. The investigations take her back and forth between Oxford and London where the missing woman has a flat.

Samantha receives more mysterious letters and threats. When O'Connor's mistress turns up dead after being questioned by Sam, Sam doubts whether she should be trusting O'Connor. Complicating her life, Sam has a lingering attraction for an Oxford police detective who also happens to be a former lover. She has to pursue many leads until she unravels the web of deceit around the mysterious deaths.

This is an intense story which examines the two sides of Samantha's character...the light and the dark. The investigations into the murders of the women lead to hidden secrets in the Oxford academic world. Samantha's confrontation with her supposedly dead father is revealing and shattering. The pace is intense and fast moving. The settings of Oxford and London are authentically depicted.

This book revolves around the life of a troubled young woman.
