Cruel and Unusual Intuition

     In the third Karma Crime mystery, Cally Lazer, former attorney, now “cane-fu” master and energy healer, is in the middle of a crime scene. She is attending the Chakra Commitment Intensive Workshop and Dr. Aurora Hart, leader of the movement, is the guest speaker. Much to Cally’s surprise, she finds out that Dr. Hart has a vicious tongue that she freely uses on employees or clients. Despite her biting tongue, no one expects Dr. Hart to die by her own aura maker that displays her personal chakras (sacred energy). Someone has tampered with the aura maker and Dr. Hart receives a deadly electrical charge just as she gets to the seventh chakra. The list of suspects is quite long and includes Dr. Hart’s employees and the participants of the workshop. Once again Cally and her cohorts take on the challenge of figuring out whodunit.

     Cruel and Unusual Intuition is a wonderfully entertaining addition to the series. Although there are a large number of characters in the book, they are all well-defined and the author provides a listing of the cast of characters to help the reader. The New Age psychic healing backdrop to the series adds a truly unique twist to her novels that is very refreshing. Those who enjoy this author’s writing should also try books written by Jacqueline Girdner, which is Daniels’ pseudonym.
