Death Dines In

Edited by Claudia Bishop, Dean James

Bishop and James have put together a banquet of savory short mysteries. Just before the mystery course, they tempt readers' with author introductions and end each story with an insightful interview and delicious recipe. Readers can't help but walk away from the table feeling satisfied.

Lyn Hamilton writes about a cursed tea-set and gives readers a recipe for Almond Cake. Parnell Hall's series character - the puzzle lady - gives a lesson in Motive, Opportunity and Means at a luncheon. William Moody's character suffers writer's frustration and the author tops it off with a salmon recipe. My favorite short story is "Cocktails with the Corpse" by Mary Jane Maffini. It's a light mystery filled with wit.

Readers will find some of the stories witty, some slightly complex, and some more entertaining than the others, but all are enjoyable.

Here is a list of the authors featured in the anthology and their mysteries.
