Raymond
White does push-ups in his cell and remembers
..
Remembers
an honest, successful life that some how backfired and put him in
prison. Raymond knows he was set up. He's angry and bitter. He tortures
those around him as much as he tortures himself. Eventually the
elderly prisoner Lester Cole gets through to Raymond and helps him
escape. White's goal once outside is to exact revenge on those who
set him up. Raymond's cell mate warns him it's best to let it go,
there's nothing left to salvage. But how can Raymond forget the
men who took his future, the life he knew, the woman he loved, and
lived large afterward? Once outside, Raymond follows the path laid
out by his cellmate. He finds kindred spirits of sorts on the way
and sets his plans in motion.
Its
patience at its best listening to Raymond make plans; taking a breath
at the close calls; and waiting for him to reveal himself. The money
issue seems excessive and maybe too easy at some points, but doesn't
take away from the story or suspense.
If
you haven't tried Green, you should. He's someone in the suspense
genre to be made aware of. The more he writes the better he gets.
He rivals Patterson, Grisham, Buffa, Haig, and Gruber. You won't
be disappointed.
Actor
Stephen Lang narrates the audio version of Exact Revenge.
He also narrates James Patterson's Black Friday and The
Lake House.
