Falling Down

by David Cole

Get ready for a fabulous read as once again Laura Winslow's life is thrown into the violence that goes on around Tuscan, AR. With her PI license revoked, Laura is resigned to retirement and living with her lover Nathan. However, things change when Bob Gates arrives at her home with a case that needs Laura's computer skills. If she takes this case, Gates promises he can get her PI license reinstated. To Laura, this means everything to her. Although she is planning to retire, she wants it to be her choice.

Gates wants her to find the bad cop in the precinct who is working with a drug cartel. It seems the cartel has found a new way of bringing drugs into the US, using children, who are made to swallow a balloon of drugs. Often times a balloon will burst, killing the child. However, though taking this new case will mean losing her lover, Laura will do what she can to help stop the drugs and find who is working on the inside.

First, she must meet with Mary Emich, a woman Gates knows who has information on what is going on. Mary is afraid to speak much on the phone, telling Laura she wants her to keep her and her child alive. Before Laura leaves she gets a call from Gates. He wants her to visit the crime scene where an undercover cop has been killed. Soon Laura realizes she is dealing with the worst kind of people, the ones that give meaning to the word Evil.

With Laura once again facing the violence that only she can solve, Falling Down is one story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. You will not be able to lay this book down until you have finished and learn "who done it."
