Invitation To Murder
A Card-Making Mystery
by Elizabeth Bright
When
Jennifer Shane opens Custom Card Creations, she thinks the worst thing
she will have to worry about is a lack of customers. But barely has
she opened when she hears a woman murdered - over the phone! Her older
brother Bradford (the local sheriff) and older sister Sara Lynn (owner
of a scrapbooking store) are soon clucking round her, terrified for
her safety, but though spooked Jennifer is keen to try a little sleuthing
on her own. With Aunt Lillian in tow (looking for husband number eight),
she is soon on the trail, but things are going to get a lot more dangerous
before the killer is caught and Jennifer can get on with her crafting.
As a keen card crafter I relished the cardmaking
tips in here, but even if you have never even thought about the
hobby there is plenty more to enjoy. This is an appealing first
entry in a new series and is a typical enjoyable cozy mystery: the
sort of small town that many people would love to live in, the joys
of being part of a loving family, hobby tips and a murder to solve.
A larger cast for future books might be a plus, as would a few loose
ends to do with the main characters of the sort that keep a series
fresh and lively, but although this is quite a simple, linear mystery
it is nonetheless enjoyable. I'd read another, and not merely because
I enjoy cardmaking!
