Killer Smile

by Lisa Scottoline

Lawyer Mary Dinunzio is working on a new case. Although her "client" has been dead since 1942, Mary is determined to discover the truth of what really happened to Amadeo Brandolini.

Mary's friends believe she is just obsessed with this case. However, Mary feels a connection somehow to this case and feels she must solve it at all cost. Even when it means she may be putting her life in danger. Not long after she begins searching the archive and asking questions things begin to happen. First, she notices a black car that seems to be following her everywhere, including parked outside her apartment building. Her long time family acquaintance, Frank, who hired her to find the answers, is determined that she quit, and even fires her from the job. Then Mary shows up at her office to show her date some things about the case, and discovers that her office has been ransacked and the Amadeo case file is missing. Now her co-workers and friends want Mary to take a vacation before whatever she has stumbled into gets her killed. To their surprise she agrees, However Mary has a good reason for agreeing: she believes she can find even more answers in Montana, where Amadeo was taken during World War ll.

While in Montana, Mary finds more answers and more questions. However, when she discovers that Amadeo may have been murdered, she decides to go home, only to find out that Frank has been murdered.

Killer Smile is an intense, entertaining read that is sure to keep any reader on the edge of their seat. I read this magnificent read in one setting, as I just could not bring myself to put it down.
