Like A Charm
Edited by Karin Slaughter
This is 16 interconnected but separate stories of odd characters, written by 16 prestigious
mystery writers: Peter Robinson, Lee Child, Mark Billingham, John Connelly, Laura Lippman
and others. Each story is written in the writer's unique style, bringing the characters
to life.
This is the story of an ill-fated bracelet with 16 unique charms: gold locket, tiger, a
cross, monkey, an angel, train engine, snake, and others. The bracelet travels through
time from 19th century Georgia to modern times. It brings misery and death to each life
that touches it.
Each story focuses on a single charm and its influence in the life of the present possessor
of the bracelet. Each charm represents human frailty....desire, curiosity, jealousy,
obsession, revenge, ambition, infidelity. The unique concept of the book makes for compelling
reading. Since it is a series of chapters written by such excellent writers, it cannot
help but be a fine work. |
