No One's Ever Sick in Springfield

by Chaz Thompson

Dean Escher met Rose in his late teens while hanging out in a local park in Norwalk. When he met Rose he realized that something about her was not quite right but young love persevered and they later married and had a young son.

Marriage turns out to be a bit of a shock. Rose has "mood swings" which was putting it lightly. After almost ten years of marriage, Rose finally goes too far. She orders Dean out of the house with a gun. Dean has no idea where she obtained the gun from. She insists that he go and not come back until he finds their dog. Only problem is they don't own a dog.

Dean tries to sooth his wife and goes along with this psychotic outburst for the sake of Michael, his young diabetic son. If not for Michael, Dean would have given up on his marriage years ago.

Unfortunately Rose has finally broken down completely and goes off on a journey in search of Springfield, the perfect town with perfect families. Regrettably her Springfield does not exist. It is the town from the old TV show "Father Knows Best".

Dean gathers his wits and attempts to find her and save their son Michael in spite of warnings from the local police to let them handle it.

The chase that follows has the whole group trailing Rose like an asylum version of the Piped Piper never knowing when her mind will completely break down and allow her demons to run free.

This novel was a fast moving look into the mind of a deeply disturbed woman and the family she endangers. A good read all the way around.
