The Queen Anne Fox

by Jerol Anderson

When Jessica Tyson was very young, her mother abandoned her. No one knew who her father was. Her strict and devout grandmother and her kindly grandfather raised her.

Jessica discovered at an early age that she had an unusual gift, a type of ESP. She could see crimes as they happened when she was close to the scene. Her grandfather was a policeman and she wants to use her gift to follow in his footsteps.

Jessica is called in to help with a case in the Queen Anne district. A young prostitute with ties to the area was killed and left nearby, her neck broken from behind. Three months later, an eleven-year-old boy is found killed in the same way, his body left at the exact same place. Jessica moves into the area and begins to investigate people who knew the young woman, Annie or the boy known as Denny.

As she investigates she meets several interesting people. Richard Renard was an old man who loved children and volunteered at the local school. His last name means fox in French and he feels an affinity for the local legend, the Queen Anne Fox. At the young boy's school, she meets the school psychologist and promptly falls in love. But does this mean that he cannot be considered a suspect? Also. what about the ambitious lady principal? The eleven-year-old, the child of two prominent local lawyers, was often in trouble.

As the story progresses, not only the mystery propels the story, but also Jessica's family dynamics and the life questions she has never answered.

Jerol Anderson has a true talent and I look forward to another book by this author.
