Seven Minutes to Noon

by Kate Pepper

Seven Minutes to Noon is a gripping tale about Alice Halpern, a pregnant woman who gets caught up in trying to find her best friend Lauren, who is nine months pregnant. Alice is waiting for her friend to help pick up their other children, but when Lauren doesn't show, Alice becomes concerned. While Alice is trying to figure out what happened with her friend, she becomes suspicious of someone trying to harm her and her unborn child. Is a strange person following her to take her baby? Can she help solve the case while still managing to save herself and her family?

Kate Pepper does a fantastic job in grabbing readers at the beginning of the story and not letting them go throughout Seven Minutes to Noon. The suspense and mystery holds throughout Seven Minutes to Noon. Readers will find themselves interested in Alice's story and feeling that they want her to survive this ordeal. Ms. Pepper also adds a nice side story regarding typical housing situations in New York City, in particular, Brooklyn Heights. The setting of Brooklyn is not necessary, but does add a local feel for people who have lived in New York City.
