Sit,
Stay, Slay
By
Linda O. Johnston
Kendra
Ballantyne was a high-priced attorney until she was accused of unethical
behavior. Her lawyer saved her from being disbarred, but her law
license was suspended.
While
visiting her friend, Darryl - the owner of a doggie day spa -- Kendra
is offered a job as pet sitter. With no income and no direction
for her life she readily accepts.
Soon
Darryl has lined up jobs for Kendra all over town. She does everything
from petting pooches while the owners are away to stopping in over
lunch hour to pacify a pet python. Her favorite client is a sexy
P.I. named Jeff Hubbard. Life may not be great, but it is good.
Kendra is actually enjoying her life now. Or she is until the day
that she discovers the dead body of one of her human clients.
Kenda is suspect number one. The police
are convinced that they have their "man" and don't feel
compelled to look any further. Kendra and Jeff set out to clear
her name. Their lack of progress is upsetting, but not as upsetting
as when Kendra stumbles upon victim number 2.
This
book is a good beginning to a new series. It has lots of sexy banter
without any sexual details. The unveiling of the villain is very
well done. More humor would have been a nice touch, but this book
is an enjoyable read nonetheless. I look forward to more adventures
of Kendra and Lexie the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
