The Adventures of Guy Noir
Radio Private Eye
by Garrison Keillor
Garrison Keillor is well-known for his down home humor and witty commentary about his home
state, Minnesota. His radio show, which can be heard on many stations both on the radio
and the web, is a big hit in every town he and his crew visit for each taping. The "Guy
Noir" skits are definitely an audience favorite and, in accordance with the "if you supply,
they will demand more" method that inhabits every pore of the entertainment industry, HighBridge
Audio has released a compilation of 2CDs filled with Keillor's infamous "Guy Noir" skits
for devoted fans and newbies alike to enjoy and laugh over to the point of tears. From the
governor of California to the President of the United States, no one is safe from being
made into a satirical character for an episode of this classy, hilarious sketch.
I was first introduced to Garrison Keillor's radio show via BBC 7 on the radio section
of my media player. Ever since then, I've been hooked. The "Guy Noir" sketches have always
been my favorite next to his stories and updates about Minnesota. I was thrilled when I
got the chance to review this audio selection. I recommend it to anyone who's a fan of
the classic radio shows from the early days, and satirical humor about the world we live
in and the people who have found a place in its history. |
