Blondes Have More Felons
December Vaughn Series, No. 1
by Alesia Holliday
December Vaughn left her ex-husband, her successful position in a corporate law firm and
her furniture behind in Ohio to start a private legal practice in comfy Orange Grove, Florida;
home of her Aunt Celia and Uncle Nathan, best friend Maxine and hunk-a-licious Jake Brody.
One of the first cases December takes is a wrongful death suit against a large drug
company accused of supplying bad insulin. What follows is a humorous romp through our
heroine's life and heart supported by a diverse cast of characters: an aging Casanova
armed with knife and pepper spray, an ex-beauty pageant queen office manager, a world-champion
poker-playing housewife and mom to 2 angels next door, an elderly aunt who can summon tuna
casserole and cobbler at will, a puppy, an alligator, a bear and that doesn't include
the main characters or the villains!
The plot line has a little bit for everyone being part romance, part mystery and part
legal thriller, filled with humor, a little action, a little gore and lots of angst. I
will recommend it to my mystery-reading friends and caution those who prefer the
Miss-Marple-style cozies to skim through a few select pages. My initial reaction was
to call it a caper, but it gets pretty serious and graphic to do so. I hope the next
in the series will be as original and entertaining as the first as I will be watching
for it. |
