Blood of the Angels is the final part in a trilogy written by Michael Marshall.
The first two books were Straw Men and The Upright Man.
In previous books the reader met several reccurring characters and was introduced to
the Straw Men. The Straw Men are a group of killers that have supposedly existed as a
secret society for thousands of years, In Blood of the Angels, the reader meets
former CIA Agent Ward Hopkins and his lover and partner Nina Bayman. They have been hiding
in the remote region of the Cascade Mountains in an attempt to elude the killers known
as Straw Men.
As the book begins, Nina is called out to a town in Virginia to help investigate what
appears to be a rarity: a female serial killer. It is also here that it is discovered
that Ward's twin brother Paul has escaped. Paul is a serial killer and member of the
Straw Men. It is also known that Paul will come after Ward to kill him. As Nina investigates
the female serial killer angel they discover that "The Day of the Angels" is near and
a mass murder will occur, possibly planned by several Straw Men.
This book was the first I read in this series, but there was easily enough background
to fill in the gaps and make this interesting. I enjoyed the storyline enough to go back
and order the first two in the series in order to catch up.
