Bubbles All the Way
Bubbles Yablonsky series #6

by Sarah Strohmeyer

Bubbles Yablonsky is back! And, boy, is she in trouble. A while ago, her daughter, Jane, was kidnapped. Since her return, Jane is terrified of being alone. The family therapist goes behind Bubbles’ back and calls Bubbles’ mother. Dr. Caswell wants Mom to move in with Bubbles and Jane until the wedding.

What wedding? Another one of the shrink’s brilliant ideas is for Bubbles and her ex-husband, Dan, to remarry. She says that it is important for Jane to be part of a normal family again. In fact, she is so adamant that Jane needs a regular family, that if Bubbles doesn’t remarry Dan, the counselor will turn her in to Family Services as an unfit mother. Surprisingly, Dan is all in favor of the idea. He has gotten a quickie divorce from his rich, society wife and is chomping at the bit to remarry Bubbles. To say that Bubbles finds this attitude suspicious is major understatement. But faced with the prospect of losing her daughter, what choice does Bubbles have?

Bubbles returns the engagement ring given to her by her true love, Steve Stiletto. A broken heart is a small price to pay to ensure her daughter’s happiness. But somehow even after saying goodbye to him, Bubbles keeps finding herself back in Stiletto’s arms.

Meanwhile Debbie Shatsky goes to the House of Beauty for hair extensions. While they are being put in, she dies. The beautician, Bubbles’ best friend, Sandy, is hysterical. The police can’t decide whether it’s negligence or murder. Either way, Sandy’s life is in ruins.

While trying to prove Sandy’s innocence, Bubbles also has to deal with problems ranging from wedding plans (for a marriage that she doesn’t want) to a new rival at work.

And just to keep things interesting, someone keeps shooting at Bubbles.

This is a fast-paced fun book. The ending is a bit contrived and at times the main character is too much of an air-head to be believable, but overall this is a good book.
