The Camel Club is a conspiracy group. At first they seem like a paranoid crew of eccentrics
bent on seeing something in everything, including the increased demand for pizza. The
club leader calls himself Oliver Stone. He has no past, yet seems to be highly educated
with unusual defensive skills. The unraveling of Stone's past and the club's attempt to
resolve the latest conspiracy got the best of my curiosity.
During a late night meeting the club witnesses a murder. After narrowly escaping they
look into the victim's life and murder. Secret Service agent Alex Cross and Stone cross
paths and work to solve the murder (great minds think alike). The further they delve into
the case the more intense the storyline becomes. Readers can expect a heart racing, "what-if"
journey as murder leads to national tragedy.
As usual Baldacci delivers. Don't expect to turn this audio book on and breeze through
it. The first listen is filled with anticipation. The second will have you paying closer
attention to find the hints and clues you missed.
And there's more. In the midst of a fictional thriller, Baldacci shows readers prominent
cultural differences and misunderstandings. Through the action and adventure it's the characters'
personal thoughts and deeds that will give you pause. The Camel Club is one of
those rare finds. You hate to turn it off and resent interruptions. Pass it on. Your buddies
will thank you.
