When her best friend, Jerry Fairweather, asks her to go with him to claim a house in Celosia, a thirty-minute drive, she jumps at the chance. The house had been left to Jerry by his uncle, Val Eberlin. Jerry, who thinks of himself as a psychic, has refused to accept his share of the Fairweather family fortune. He makes his living doing psychic readings. When they arrive in Celosia, they find the local beauty pageant was slated for the following Saturday, but it is being sabotaged. Mac is hired to find out who is behind the malicious mischief.
