Deadly Housewives

Edited by Christine Matthews

When I see the names listed on the cover of Deadly Housewives I just do not find myself thinking in the terms of Suzie Homemaker with the spotless house. Now the deadly part I see.

With such award winning women writers as Sara Paretsky, Nevada Barr, Marcia Muller and more, I know I am in for a great read. The theme tying these stories together is the main character is a housewife. A housewife who often has reached her murderous limit.

One of my favorites was the story "Trailer Trashed" by Barabra Collins. I know this woman, I am sure I lived beside her early in my marriage. The Jerry Springer show has nothing on her.

Then there was "How to Murder your Mother in Law" By Suzann Ledbetter. Come on, no matter how wonderful your mother in law is, there has been a time. Go ahead admit it.

The nice thing about anthologies is I always discover writers I have somehow overlooked. After reading a good short story by them, I am off looking for more of their works.

Having been called a housewife for several years now, I deeply enjoyed this book although as the book pointed out "I am not married to a house."
