Edge of Evil
Alison Reynolds #1

by J.A. Jance

Alison Reynolds is a forty-something television news reporter and is about to have a very bad day. First comes her firing where she is replaced by a younger "model" and then the news that her close friend Rennie has died. Top it off with an unfaithful husband and Ali has her hands full all at once.

Ali's son Chris starts an online blog to allow her to vent her feelings and connect with the audience she didn't get to say goodbye to. Unfortunately the blog is going to lead Ali straight into trouble, or is it that trouble is going to be able to find her? Ali uses the new found free time she gains from losing her job, marriage and close friend to find a way to cope with all the questions in her life, including whether Rennie committed suicide or someone murdered her.

I enjoyed this book immensely. Ali is an interesting woman. While we might not be able to relate to her line of work, exactly, we can know how it feels to be looked at as too old in society, or to be traded in for a younger woman. We also get to see a woman who believes in her intuition, her friends and her family. A very satisfying read about a woman whose life's predicaments can occur every day in ours.
