Hong Kong
A Jake Grafton Novel
by Stephen Coonts
Read by Michael Cumpsty
Admiral Jake Grafton has been sent to Hong Kong on a mission for the U.S. State Department. The consul-general, Tiger
Cole, a longtime friend of Jake and Callie Grafton, is suspected of misusing his office to raise funds. Just what he’s
into, Jake doesn’t know, but he will find out. Meanwhile, Callie has been invited to participate in an educational forum
at the University, so she has accompanied Jake to Hong Kong. It was where they met and fell in love. Maybe they could
enjoy a second honeymoon when their assignments are complete.
However, Hong Kong isn’t the same as it was. Something has the city on edge. Just beneath the surface, emotions seethe,
threatening to boil over. And one of the figures involved in the fund-raising scheme has been murdered. Though the dead
man’s office had been bugged, the tape doesn’t reveal who the killer was. And the agent who planted the tape recorder
has been snuffed as well.
Then Callie is kidnapped by a local thug. Jake has to find out if the kidnapper is involved with the political factions
threatening to plunge Hong Kong into civil war. And he must also find out if Tiger Cole had anything to do with her
kidnapping.
Hong Kong is filled with action and suspense. Read by Michael Cumpsty, it will keep you on the edge of your
chair as Jake tries to rescue Callie and the kidnapped revolutionary, amid the din of a civil war. Your heart will be
with the rebels as they try to wrest Hong Kong from mainland China. And in the middle of the ruckus, you’ll be trying
to figure out what role the beautiful British spy is playing in the whole mess. Give Hong Kong a listen. In spite
of the language, sex and graphic violence, mystery lovers will enjoy this thriller. |
