In Kingdom Come, the murderer tells the story. He tells of resentment, greed and
murder. Listeners witness the cruelty and betrayal the murderer and his family experience.
They may even understand his resentment, but trust me, compassion will be difficult to
feel. And that may be what Green is going for...
Kingdom Come has a somewhat negative cast of characters, which makes the storyline
all the more interesting. Thane just wants what is due him. His wife takes the first step
down a path of betrayal, spurned by resentment and greed. Thane's friend loses his father
and is set up to look like the killer. Animal tracker Buck wants justice for the death of
his boss. He'll go to any length to get it. Thane's other friend, Ben, has his suspicions
and sinks to the darkest depths when he finds out. The Witches, two female federal government
employees, push a hardworking family into illegal turmoil with no conscience. What is
a murderer to do with everyone pushing him to the brink of insanity?
Kingdom Come is suspense viewed from the other side. There's plenty of action
and suspenseful scenes. It's a story one can't turn off. Unpleasant characters one can't
turn away from... The ending does well in bringing it all together.
Tim Green created this storyline after his best friend's "jet-set" family, who deal
with the mob and union on a daily basis. At one point Green came to the rescue of his
friend's family when a couple of men showed up at their home to "deliver a message."
Scott Brick narrates the audio version. His performance is excellent. He brings out
the best of the worst in Green's cold-hearted characters. His reading, and the music
included, makes for a suspenseful listen. Highly recommended!
