Little Faith
Dan Reles series, No. 3

by Michael Simon

Sergeant Dan Reles is an Austin, Texas homicide detective. He has been on the force for twenty years and feels that he is due a promotion. When he is called to the garage apartment of a young child star, he realizes that this may be the break he needs. The victim is an eighteen-year old girl, once a former child star known as Faith Copeland. The scene is first viewed as a suicide, but it soon becomes apparent that murder is more likely.

On another case, Catarina "Cate" Copeland has been searching for a thirteen-year-old boy who was turned out on the street when his mother was falsely arrested. She finds the boy, murdered in the bed of the Texas Lieutenant Governor.

How these two cases relate is unsure until a connection is found with a bizarre religious cult with ties back to the Branch Davidians and possible political cover-ups and corruption.

As a senior sergeant Dan must tackle the cases and try to find an answer to some very ugly questions that would solve the two cases. After recently being dumped by his girlfriend, he pairs up with Cate in an attempt to solve the crimes, not realizing that Cate has some pretty strong secrets of her own.

Michael Simon featured Dan Reles in first, Dirty Sally, and then Body Scissors. His character is turning into a man the reader cares about and wants to see triumph. Little Faith is a great addition to the series.
