Malicious Intent
First in the Anya Crichton series

by Kathryn Fox

Dr. Anya Crichton is a freelance pathologist who is trying to establish her own business. She's paying child support to her ex-husband and hoping to earn enough to fight him for custody of their son. When she's hired to look into a case that the police have ruled a suicide, she finds something odd in the pathology reports as well as with the man who has hired her to look into his sister's suicide. Anya finds something in the report that shouldn't be there in a girl so young. It leads her to investigate other suicide reports with the same anomaly.

This fast-paced mystery takes place in Australia. Anya gets too close to the truth and risks everything, including her son's life, without realizing what she's done. A serial killer lurks and hopefully she can save those around her, but only if she can realize the truth and make the connection to the victims in time.

A very interesting character along the lines of author Patricia Cornwell's "Dr. Kay Scarpetta" series. This is the first book in what will be "Dr. Anya Crichton" character novels. This is a character with so many possibilities it will be nice to see where author Kathryn Fox leads Anya.
