Night of the Jaguar
Jimmy Paz series, No. 3

by Michael Gruber

Michael Gruber brings us another mind-stretching adventure into the world of Jimmy Paz and the Cuban community of Miami, Florida. Jimmy Paz was a detective with the Miami police. He retired and married Lorna Wise, formerly a psychologist for the state. They had a daughter, Amelia, who is now six years old.

Jimmy and his family have all been having nightmares. What bothered him was that he and Amelia had the same recurrent dream. Amelia is about to be eaten by a jaguar, but this seems to be all right with Jimmy and Lola in the dream. Jimmy thought Lola was having the same dream, but Lola won't talk about it. She has always been insecure, even to changing her name to Lola and changing her profession to that of medical doctor. Maybe it had something to do with her history of hypochondria. At any rate, Jimmy knew something was wrong. He was sure when he found the pills. Valium was the mildest of what she was using to keep the dreams at bay.

This would be the least of his worries. Tito Morales, his old partner, visited him. There had been a murder -a wierd one, the kind that Jimmy was adept at solving. A Cuban businessman has been murdered, apparently by a very large cat.

Night of the Jaguar is a story of a tragedy of nature as an Indian from South America tries to stop a group of thugs from cutting down the rain forest that has been home to his people for centuries. It will stretch your imagination to its limit and beyond as one after another of the thugs is killed, apparently by this Indian who can turn into an almost five-hundred-pound jaguar. Can Jimmy solve the mystery before the killer also takes his daughter's life? Get this book and go on the thrill ride of your life!
