Sugarplums and Scandal
A Feast of Passion and Suspense for the Holidays
by Dana Cameron, Mary Daheim, Lori Avocato, Cait London, Suzanne Macpherson, Kerrelyn Sparks
I enjoy reading anthologies because it allows me to have a taste of an author’s creation before I fully invest in
their fare. I usually make sure that there are one or two stories by authors I already appreciate, but it isn’t a
requirement. I regularly read and enjoy Dana Cameron’s Emma Fielding Mysteries and Mary Daheim’s B&B Series, so
there wasn’t much risk in picking up Sugarplums and Scandal.
All of the stories have an underlying mystery to solve embedded in a Christmas setting. Each has a romantic
component and the wry humor that is expected to accompany the awkwardness of new love. The backdrops vary from an
eighteenth century English manor house to a Hollywood sound stage. The cast of characters include a fussy divorcé,
a well-meaning ghost, a toothless curmudgeon, TWO Holly Lightlys, a volley of vampires and Jagger, who is
well, wow. Whew! It’s a little steamy under this mistletoe!
I have decided that this will be the stocking stuffer for the majority of the readers on my Christmas list. I
hope they, and you, enjoy it as much as I did.
Merry Christmas! |
