When Evil Prospers
by John Washburn
In America's ongoing war with terrorism, no one ever imagined a championship baseball game would become the scene
of untold carnage, but it happens in John Washburn's future book, When Evil Prospers. Texas is the target
of Middle Eastern terrorists, who plant a bus full of explosives behind the first base stands, during
the best-attended game in years. In fact, 49,000 fans watch and cheer until the moment of impact, when thousands
suddenly are dead and even more lie injured.
The problem comes in dealing with the issue. A liberal president passes the buck to her detriment, leaving the
country nearly defenseless, and the hawk Texas governor must find another way to deal with the situation.
With edge-of-your-seat action, Washburn's book details what could happen if we don't wake up and smell the
coffee, before it's too late.
Back to basics seems to be his motto, and not a moment too soon, in this reviewer's opinion.
A little too close to home to be comforting, but a very good read, nevertheless. |
