Lilly Cleary is a respected young attorney, but her past is rapidly catching up to her.
Her former boyfriend, "Farmer Dave" Baggwell shows up late one night at Lilly's apartment.
He's driving a U-Haul truck filled with bottles of wine-stolen wine.
Dave was Lilly's first boyfriend. With Lilly at his side, he ran a very successful marijuana
farm. Eventually, Lilly grew up and went to law school. Dave continued to grow pot. Though
they have gone their separate ways, they have remained good friends.
With no explanation of the wine, Dave, along with Benny, the son of Lilly's secretary,
set out for the Florida Everglades. They are searching for an elusive swamp-dwelling wildcat.
They don't find the cat, but they do find a dead body.
While they are gone, Dave's friend Waylon shows up and drives off with the truck. Relieved
that the contraband is finally off her property, Lilly resumes work on an upcoming legal
case. She is soon interrupted by a woman carrying a sackful of money, and later by a cop,
with a kid in tow.
And so begins the tale of Lilly the lawyer and her gang of crazy friends. The escapades
continue, culminating in the death of a senior partner at Lilly's law firm -one who was
despised by all. One who had been threatening Lilly's secretary. One whom Lilly is now
accused of killing.
Although the plot is a little slow and somewhat confusing, the characters are fun.
There are several secondary characters whom I hope will have stories of their own in the
future. Overall, this is a pretty good book.
