Amen Corner

by Rick Shefchik

More fiction than mystery, Rick Shefchik's Amen Corner will keep you turning the pages quickly to find out how this chase ends. A fast-paced, entertaining story.

Lee Doggett is released from prison after serving an eight year sentence. He was once employed by "The Augusta National Golf Club" as a greenskeeper. Lee's father is Ralph Stanwick, who is a member of and serves on the board of the club. Lee has plotted and planned for eight years to kill his father once he is released from prison. Lee is released from prison just as Masters Week at the club begins. He knows his father will be there for the Masters.

It's the week of "The Masters Tournament" held each year at "The Augusta National Golf Club" in Augusta, Georgia. This yearly event is watched the world over and brings millions of dollars into the community.

At this year’s tournament, there is a protest going on just outside the club’s front gates. It's a group of women demanding that the "men only" club begin admitting women into its membership.

When a member’s body is found floating in the pond near Amen Corner, everyone assumes the murder has something to do with the women's protest.

Sam Skarda is a police officer from South Minneapolis who is playing in the Masters. After a second body is found, the board members of the club hire Sam as a private investigator to investigate the killings.
