Blood Matters
A Roxanne Prescott mystery

by Taffy Cannon

Adoption agency CEO Sam Brennan is found bludgeoned to death with the statuette of Michael Jackson. It was believed that he was loved by everyone. No one could have murdered him.

Roxanne Prescott, homicide detective with the San Diego police, is given the job of finding his murderer. To find the answers she must search into Brennan's life. She learns about Brennan's past: his relations with the women who loved him and his business dealings in reuniting adopted children with their birth families. She unearths information about the extent of Brennan’s wealth and his tell-all book deal. There are many suspects including two ex-wives and a spurned lover.

This is an expertly paced police procedural with many details about the world of adoption and its ramifications. There is an excellent cast of characters headed by the heroine, a down-to-earth detective. The suspense is kept at its fullest, ending with a startling conclusion.
