Dead Wrong
Sheriff Joanna Brady Mysteries #12

by J.A. Jance

I have been reading a lot of new authors lately; all with new ideas and new twists on the world. I had forgotten how much enjoyment and comfort I get out of a long-standing series with familiar characters and nothing to prove except their most recent case. Such is the case with Dead Wrong by J.A. Jance.

Joanna Brady is re-elected Sheriff of Cochise County in Arizona on her own record and merits. She is very pregnant, short staffed and overworked. Then we turn up the heat with a gory puppy mill and training center for Pit Bull Terriers, a python, multiple corpses, an innocent man in jail for 20 years, a couple of cold-blooded crazies, and the mother-in-law from the Underworld, all in the same week.

I think the facet I enjoyed most about this most recent installment of Sheriff Joanna Brady’s life is the part about coming home. Even with the extra stress, Joanna takes a deeper look at her staff. She pulls them and her family closer together. Virtus unita fortior!
