Final Paradox
II in the Osgoode Trilogy
by Mary E. Martin
Harry Jenkins is back and trying to stay the honest lawyer that he has become. This time he’s trying to help his
elderly client, Ms. Norma Dinnick, figure out where the shares for Elixicorp have disappeared to. Ms. Dinnick,
unfortunately, is going back and forth between reality and madness. She asks Harry to sue the rest of the
claimants of the mysterious shares. When this happens, murders begin.
There is a nice subplot in the relationship between Harry and his estranged father. His father has become ill,
and Harry is the only one around who can help him ...if he’ll let him. Harry appears more realistic when dealing
with his father. He seems compassionate and develops a true understanding of what is important in his life.
The characterization of Norma Dinnick works only because the reader becomes as mad as she is when Norma goes
back and forth in reality.
The mystery surrounding the shares is not a great one and doesn’t always make sense. The murders that happen
are too unrealistic to work. Now this does not make Final Paradox a bad read. Final Paradox is still
an enjoyable mystery. |
