Island Blues
Sabrina Dunsweeney series #2
by Wendy Howell Mills
Sabrina Dunsweeney is attempting to get herself back on her feet for her own sake and that of her parakeet, Calvin.
She moved to Comico Island from the United States mainland to start fresh. She recently was offered the position of
the island’s official ombudsman and not a moment too soon. There have been a number of burglaries, and the locals
have been arguing with the tourists. Sabrina then has to appease the "Hummers," who have booked a week at a local
hotel and are looking for privacy for their private rituals. Unfortunately, the spokesman of the Hummers is found
dead on an isolated island near Comico Island.
Sabrina brings herself into unsafe situations with a small amount of humor as she investigates the burglaries.
Her interactions with Calvin are slightly off the deep end, but they add a small break in the suspense and
adventure for the reader, which is a good thing. There are some interesting small town antics and characters that
can only be appreciated in a small town setting like Comico Island. The mystery is well set and the reader is
never sure why or who has done the burglaries or the murder until the end of Island Blues. |
