The Mystery Writers of America Presents Death Do Us Part
New Stories about Love, Lust, and Murder
Edited by Harlan Coben
This Mystery Writer’s of America anthology contains 18 original short stories written by some of the most
prestigious writers of the genre. The themes for of all the stories are either love, lust, greed or murder, showing
the complications that can develop between couples, lovers, friends and even complete strangers. Some stories are
haunting, some suspenseful, some ingenuous. Each story is a gem in itself; illustrating the talent, even genius,
of the authors.
A memorable one for me is by Lee Child, who has spun a fine tale about a young electrician who had never left
the city. When he is sent to the country to work on a house under construction, he becomes fascinated by the
atmosphere of the country. During his work breaks, he observes a young woman and her husband in an adjoining
home. He continues to watch as their relationship with each other unfolds. When the husband goes missing, the
electrician contacts the wife and establishes an alliance which can only end in disaster.
This is an ideal book for the reader who has only a short time to relax. The only problem is that after one
story, the reader is almost compelled to hop on to the next. The anthology is edited by best-selling author
Harlan Coben, and includes stories by Lee Child, Ridley Parson, J.J. Parrish, Laura Lippman, and other stellar
authors, |
