The Quickie

by James Patterson & Michael Lidwidge
Read by Mary Stuart Masterson

Lauren Stillwell witnesses what she believes is infidelity by her husband. She gives him a chance to confess, and when he doesn't, she runs out for a little quickie of her own. Being a NYPD detective, one would think Lauren has witnessed the results before of a truly dumb decision -- but in this case even Lauren can't conceive what a life-ending, life-changing ride one quickie gets her. Lauren meets up with a fellow detective named Scott. After their slap-happy rendezvous, he ends up dead and she ends up lying about any knowledge of him or what happened. The more Lauren tries to keep it all together AND keep her badge, the more revealing the case becomes and soon EVERYONE in her life is involved.

Now, if you think you know what's coming, you're wrong. And that's just the point of this novel. From cover to cover, Patterson and Ledwidge stun the audience with a whole lot of shock and awe. Just when you think it's all over, another bombshell drops. I held fast to this one and didn't let go until it was all over. The whole time, all I could think was, "how in the heck is she going to get out of this?"

Actress Mary Stuart Masterson narrates the audio version. Great reading of a great novel. Remember your headphones and share, share, share! Your friends will be patting you on the back for a long time.
