Saddled with Trouble
The First Horse Lover’s Mystery
by Michele Scott
Michaela Bancroft, a horse trainer, is trying to piece her life back together after her husband leaves her for a
22-year-old beauty queen bimbo. Unfortunately, she finds her Uncle Lou murdered in his barn. Her Uncle Lou’s death
just compounds everything else - her overwhelming debts, her ex-husband’s strange renewed interest in her, and
nearly getting run off the road. Who would have wanted to kill Uncle Lou? Is Michaela getting too close to the
truth and perhaps in line to be the next victim?
Saddled with Trouble is filled with good murder suspects along with enough twists and turns allowing the
reader to guess and guess again throughout the novel. Michaela Bancroft’s character is filled with a genuine feeling
of sadness over her uncle’s death. Readers can also sympathize with her troubles from her ex-husband and his
girlfriend. There are some hilarious moments during the altercations between Michaela and the girlfriend.
The small-town setting is important to Saddled with Trouble only because many of the scenes deal with
horse farms owned by Michaela and her uncle. Many bigger towns and cities are not going to have access to the
knowledge of horse farms and what it takes for the training of horses. Saddled with Trouble is filled with
decent horse training facts, which can only be obtained by working on a farm or doing a lot of extensive research. |
