Season of the Witch

by Natasha Mostert

There’s double, double, toil, and trouble for London information thief, Gabriel Blackstone, when he investigates two beautiful witch sisters who may be linked to the death of a millionaire’s son. Beyond his computer hacking skills, Gabriel is called upon to use his remote viewing powers to look inside the mind of the young man as he died, and then later to link minds in a dangerous game with the murderess. Meanwhile, he finds himself falling in love with the other bewitching sister as he secretly reads her online diary. Gabriel’s problem lies in his not knowing which witch is a cold-blooded killer and which is a lovely, eccentric sensualist.

As Gabriel explores the strangely alluring Monk House and its two equally alluring residents (Morrighan and Minnaloushe Monk), he find himself drawn into the beauty and intrigue of their dark fascination with memory games. While Gabriel struggles to identify the killer, he also must deal with the demons from his past, as well as the obsessions of the present. Sure, there are the obligatory black cats, spiders, and crows in this Gothic thriller. But Season of the Witch also includes other enchanting elements, such as alchemy, the art of memory, astral projection, dark magic, and hallucinatory sexual fantasies.

Keeping Gabriel firmly rooted to the ground, however, are his best friend, Isidore, and his former girlfriend, Frankie (also a remote viewer), who was stepmother to the murdered man. In Season of the Witch, Mostert has cooked up a swirling brew of fascinating characters, mind-boggling mysteries, and boiling sensuality.
