Set Sail For Murder
A Henrie O mystery # 7
by Carolyn Hart
Even though retired journalist Henrietta O'Dwyer Collins, Henrie O., had refused Jimmy Talbot's marriage
proposal she still considers him a dear friend. So when Jimmy asks for her help she finds it difficult to refuse.
She finds that her love for him is still alive and strong. Jimmy has married another woman, Sophia Montgomery, a
famous documentary producer. Jimmy is suspicious of the accidents that have been happening to Sophia.
Jimmy begs Henrie to accompany the family on a cruise to the Baltic Sea so she can get to the bottom of this.
While the family is together on the cruise, Sophia will decide whether to continue her control of the
inheritance her stepchildren from a prior marriage will receive from their father's estate. Sophia stands in the
way of their inheritance which places her in jeopardy. Henrie reluctantly agrees. During the cruise, Henrie finds
that the children (really adults) have many reasons and many occasions to get rid of Sophia. Henrie has problems
with this while she struggles to keep her feelings for Jimmy platonic.
This is a travelogue and a mystery with nice description of the various Baltic ports of call. There is a cast
of engaging characters, of which Henrie is the most complex. There are various red herrings in the plot leading
to a surprising twist in the end.
This is a quick read, giving the reader a glimpse of life on a ship cruising the Baltic while sitting in the
comfort of his (or her) armchair. |
