Sisters on the Case
Celebrating Twenty Years of Sisters in Crime
by Sara Paretsky Editor (Various Authors)
Sisters on the Case begins with an ominous story "Sister Death" which lulls the reader into it, like
walking into a web. Paretsky's twenty-story anthology is a literary delight, combining two decades of women
mystery writers between the covers. Sisters in Crime was born out of a need to support women writers and keep
their pages alive; Sisters on the Case is the celebration of the group's twenty-year anniversary. Each
story has its own life born out of the "Sisters" creed: to make sure women's voices are heard. The stories are
as different as each author's personality, but the promise is the same: to provide the reader with a woman's
voice in the mystery writers' world. I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology from cover to cover.
Paretsky is also author of Writing in an Age of Silence and known for her series featuring V.I.
Warshawski, the female private investigator she's made famous in twelve novels. |
