Straits of Fortune

by Anthony Gagliano

Jack Vaughn is an ex-NYPD-cop, now a personal trainer to psychos and killers in Miami. A former cop and cop killer, his hobbies include sinking yachts, finding dead bodies, and eluding other cops.

Retired Colonel Andrew Patterson had served in Vietnam and spent years as a military scientist. With a doctorate in chemistry, he later started his own biotech company, which is where he made his fortune. Out of the blue, the Colonel contacts Jack, assuming that, as a fellow mercenary, Jack would be of a mind to make a lot of money in a very short span of time. The Colonel offers Jack one hundred thousand dollars for just a few hours' work.

The Colonel wants Jack to sink a yacht. On the yacht is the dead body of Randy Matson, the Colonel's daughter's boyfriend. Vivian, the Colonel's daughter, was once Jack's lover and Jack is ambivalent about becoming involved with the dangerous beauty again. At first, Jack declines the offer, but is eventually lured into the plan.

It doesn't take long for Jack to realize he's been played. Set up by the Colonel, Jack must find a way to outwit the Colonel and his thugs and walk away from this set-up with his life.

Straits of Fortune is a non-stop ride through a world filled with danger and romance. Packed with plenty of action and adventure, Straits of Fortune is an intriguing and entertaining novel. Anthony Gagliano has a flare for writing that will leave readers completely engrossed in the story, with a setting and characters so real you'll feel like you were there with them.
