Whoever Fights Monsters

by Iryna Bennett

Whoever Fights Monsters has an intriguing and interesting plot. However, I found the story left too many unanswered questions for the reader. Iryna Bennett has a good voice and writes well, she just needs to add more depth and details to her stories to totally captivate her readers. By adding more detail to her future novels I believe Iryna Bennett has a very promising career as a writer. I look forward to reading her future novels.

Aya Morell is forced into an early retirement from the FBI on grounds of improper conduct. She heads to her new life and new job in sunny Phoenix working for Neuetech. Neuetech has branches in pharmaceuticals and prosthetics and Aya is investigating commercial espionage. Someone has broken into Neuetech's database and made off with unpatented designs. These designs were never meant to be put into production; they are rejects, flawed at their very core. Missing is not a virus but a Trojan, modified to attack specific parameters - it is malicious stuff!

The suspect in the theft is Ryuiji Osaka, a chemical engineer for Neuetech. There is a CD with the visual surveillance recording of the crime in progress. Aya thinks something smells fishy about this case.

Wade, Aya's former partner with the FBI, is sent to New York City to investigate a case of extortion. Aya also takes a trip to New York City because of the case she's working on for Neuetech. So their paths have crossed again, what are the odds? Was it just happenstance or something planned? And if planned, why?

There are unexpected twists and turns in this novel and it is an enjoyable novel to read.
