Private is a company
that does private investigations for high-profile cases in and around
Los Angeles. Private is owned and run by a former Marine and CIA
agent Jack Morgan. One of his cases involves Jack·s friend,
Andy.
Andy had called
in tears. Andy's wife, Shelby, was dead, shot in the forehead and
in the chest. Andy wanted Jack and Private to find her killer and
bring him to justice.
The next case was one
he really wanted to solve. Some pervert was kidnapping and killing
teenage girls. All of the girls were high school students, though
not from the same school. Each of them was lured by a fake text
message. The message asked the intended victim to meet a friend
in an isolated area alone. Then, the perp or perps held the girl
down, tortured her and killed her. There was never a sexual assault
on any one of them and it was looking more and more like there were
at least two of them, if not more. Jack really wanted to get these
sickos off the streets.
Next, he was
investigating a game-fixing scheme going on in the NFL. Jack's uncle
was one of the owners who contacted Jack. All they needed now was
the proof.
The basic story was a beautiful lesson in plotting for the young
writer. It's also a great lesson in characterization. Listen to
