Erin
Murphy has come home to Jewel Bay, MT to help her mother Fresca
bring the family business into the 21st century. The Merc
would no longer be a touristy destination selling souvenirs.
It would be selling locally grown and raised food. In fact
it would feature Fresca’s homemade pastas and sauces.
Erin has gotten all the local merchants involved in a festival
that would showcase their wares. Even after hearing rumors
that Fresca fired Claudette and stole her recipes, Erin has
even invited Claudette, former manager of The Merc, to attend.
The festival
is in full swing, people are arriving and the band is playing.
Erin goes to hang up one last wreath and finds Claudette dead.
Detective Kim Caldwell is not giving anything away - just
asking her questions. It looks like she might have a suspect
in mind. Erin will have to be careful if she plans to expose
the real killer.
Things
to ponder: Who would want to kill Claudette? Was the murder
just a way to ruin the festival? Who was spreading the nasty
rumors about Fresca? What really ruined the friendship between
Erin and Kim Caldwell?
Always
love finding a new author and a brand new series. Well, let
me tell you Leslie Budewitz does not disappoint. This was
a delicious read that I finished it in one sitting. There
were plenty of red herrings to keep the plot moving. I loved
the main characters and can’t wait to read the next
book in the series. Leslie, hope you are busy plotting and
writing so I will not have to wait long. There are some very
yummy recipes included too. So if you like your mystery filled
with a fresh thinking sleuth, then you should read this book.
